At Onyx House, we specialise in providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for young adults who require assistance in their daily lives due to physical, intellectual, or developmental challenges. Our mission is to empower these individuals by promoting their independence, personal growth, and overall well-being.
Our highly trained and compassionate staff members are committed to delivering personalised care that caters to the unique needs of each resident. We understand that every individual has different abilities, interests, and goals, and we strive to create a supportive environment that encourages their personal development.
We make every effort we can to involve family and friends in the care of our residents, subject of course to our residents wishes. Our understanding of involvement is not just that we keep friends and family informed, but that we unable them to play an active part in planning and delivering their relative/friend’s care and activities.
We listen carefully to compliments and complaints, and encourage our residents and their family, friends and professional advocates to tell us when things can be better. We will implement these suggestions, always encouraging other residents to have their say where the proposed change has some impact on them or the home as a whole. One forum for discussion is our weekly residents group, which we help them to run themselves, and which our registered manager regularly attends, as does the company Managing Director.
We also support our residents and their family and friends so they know how they might take up issues with external organisations, such as the CQC, their local authority adult services, and other Learning Disabilities and Autism support organisations. To make this easier, the contact details of the main ones are included in their welcome pack and are updated regularly, and also displayed where residents and visitors can easily see them.
